THE killer of a Latvian woman living in Mirfield must serve at least 19 years in jail.

Jevgeni Matjuhha, 23, strangled Nadija Ondzule at the home they shared in Oddfellows Street, Mirfield.

Now he has been given a life sentence after a trial at Leeds Crown Court and was told by the judge, Mr Justice David Foskett, that he must serve at least 19 years.

Matjuhha, an Estonian national, admitted manslaughter, but was found unanimously guilty of the 36-year-old’s murder.

The court had been told that Miss Ondzule, told Matjuhha that she had had an abortion. The pair lived together for several years.
