A MAN has appeared in court accused of trying to steal from a car.

Adam Goodwill, of Oliver Gardens in Mirfield, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He is charged with attempted theft from a Citroën Picasso.

The alleged incident happened in Mirfield on October 24.

Marina Hunter-Grey, prosecuting, told magistrates that the victim was Anna-Marie Sullivan.

She said that she left the car parked in her driveway overnight.

During that time it is alleged the vehicle was attacked.

Ms Hunter-Grey said that items from the glovebox were scattered, although nothing was taken.

Goodwill, 24, denies the charge as he claims he can’t remember it taking place.

Magistrates were told that potential forensic evidence needs to be considered.

Goodwill’s case was adjourned until February 6 for trial.

Unconditional bail was granted.
