A MAN has been slapped with a community order after growing drugs at home.

Peter Frost, 41, of Old Engine Close, Mirfield, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

He admitted producing 15 cannabis plants at his previous address in Ravenshouse Road, Ravensthorpe.

The Huddersfield bench was told police attended the property on April 2.

Officers forced their way in.

Linda Fowler, prosecuting, said: “They found cannabis plants being grown and electrical growing equipment. There were several plastic tubs containing cannabis leaves.”

Frost was then arrested and said the drugs were for his own personal use.

Mrs Fowler said: “He said he smoked cannabis every day and had been growing it for his own use from seeds.”

Simon Lindley, for Frost, said the single dad grew the plants in small batches.

The cannabis was Frost’s only vice as he didn’t go out or drink.

Magistrates gave him a community order for 12 months with 40 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to undergo a six-month drug rehabilitation programme.
