MAGISTRATES refused a man’s request to have his curfew address changed.

Christopher Simpkin, of Norman Drive in Mirfield, was before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.

The 43-year-old was given a community order by the court last April.

The order was made following Simpkin’s conviction for criminal damage after he burned a former partner’s clothes.

Simpkin’s community order was later revoked as he was unable to complete unpaid work.

This was replaced by a curfew at his Mirfield address.

But magistrates were told that he wished for this order to run at an address in Doncaster instead.

Peter Hampson, mitigating, said that his client wished to move out of the area to be with his girlfriend.

But probation staff said that they could not agree to Simpkin changing his curfew address.

They said that this was because police had attended at his house a number of times for domestic-related incidents.

A representative said that although Simpkin had no convictions for violence, the service had concerns for any future partner of his.

Magistrates told him that they were not prepared to allow him to alter his curfew address.
