A PLAYGROUND for Mirfield has been approved by Kirklees Council.
Kirklees’ Heavy Woollen Area planning committee gave the green light for a MUGA (multi-use games area) at their meeting on May 28.
The MUGA, planned for Knowl Park, will have a three-metre high fence and four 8ft floodlights.
The plans sparked controversy as residents nearby were concerned about antisocial behaviour and the loss of green space.
The play area was approved on the proviso that no floodlighting should be used between 9.30pm and 9am.
