A pet crematorium may be opening in Mirfield.
Plans have been submitted to Kirklees Council to open the business from a house on Huddersfield Road.
Rose Consulting, acting on behalf of applicant David Aris, said it would provide a personal service to owners who want their pet’s ashes returned.
Mr Aris wants to put a cremator in the back garden, which would be capable of cremating up to four pets a day.
The machine would be 3.86 metres high by 2.99 metres long and 2.2 metres wide and would sit around 40 metres from the next nearest house.
Mr Aris would use a room in the house as an office.
In a design and access statement, the applicant said there was a need for a local pet crematorium as people had to travel up to 20 miles for such a service.
The statement said: “Customers can either bring their pets to the premises or use their collection service.
“There are six parking spaces available within the site, more than sufficient for the residential unit and the business.
“It is not anticipated there will be more than two cremations per day.
“This will operate seven days a week, between the hours of 7am and 7pm.”
Members of the public have until September 4 to make a comment on the application.
