A family of daring escapologists will provide the highlight of next month’s Mirfield Show.

Yorkshire-based Stannage International Stunt Team will wow the crowds with some spectacular stunts.

Mark and Janine Stannage will take centre stage with son Aaron at the show on Sunday, August 17.

Mark, renowned as one of Britain’s top stuntsmen, will demonstrate car, motorbike, fire and high-fall stunts along with breath-taking escapology.

Also, topping the bill is the West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service Band, one of only four military-style concert and marching bands in the country.

Take a look at last year's event in pictures below.

The band, based at Birkenshaw, has a vast repertoire of music from rock and pop to military classics and TV themes.

Band manager Kevin Fisher MBE is a former station commander at Mirfield Fire Station.

Also in the main arena there will be the horse and pony Show, the ATC Marching Band, the Katie Philpott Dancers, the children’s fancy dress competition, the Sarah Sutton Dancers, the children’s races and the ever-popular Mirfield Show Tug-of-War – along with a few surprises.

This year there will also be a free live music stage with acts confirmed including Sophie May Williams, a 1950s-style singer who was a semi-finalist on this year’s The Voice.

Other performers include Mirfield’s very own acoustic singer-songwriter Jasmine Wilkinson, country and pop singer Jade Helliwell, rock and indie band Eternal Teenage Syndrome and ska band Ska House.

There will be animal, flower and vegetable classes, 60 charity and trade stalls, games and family-friendly activities.

This is the 20th anniversary of the show, which now attracts up to 10,000 people to Mirfield Showground in Huddersfield Road.

Tickets cost £3.50 in advance or £5 on the day. Children under 16 are free.

Tickets are on sale now from Ramsden’s Butchers, the Melting House Chocolate Shop and Beadelicious in Huddersfield Road and Perfections in Old Bank Road or from www.mirfieldshow.co.uk

Show chairman Karen Bullivant said: “As times continue to be financially difficult for many people, we wanted a low-cost entertainment-packed day out for all the family.

“It remains absolutely free entrance for all children under 16, plus adult advance tickets remain only £3.50.

“The whole family can watch the amazing main arena entertainment for free, enter most of the classes and competitions for free – plus they can feel free to bring your own food and enjoy it in our picnic area.”
