A MIRFIELD woman drove after drinking following an argument with her partner, a court heard.
Tracey Hunter, of Linnet Court, appeared before Kirklees magistrates yesterday.
She admitted drink-driving on the evening of May 5.
Hunter was spotted in her Nissan Micra by two police community support officers on duty in Huddersfield Road at Ravensthorpe.
They watched the 47-year-old stop her vehicle and then drive off again several times.
Carole Lawford, prosecuting, said: “The officers spoke to her to find out what the problem was.
“When they spoke to her they flagged down a passing police vehicle as they could smell intoxicants on her breath.”
Hunter gave a roadside breath sample and then further blood and breath samples following her arrest.
These tests revealed that she had 100 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.
Hunter told police she had drunk three halves of lager and two bottles of an alcopop.
She claimed she hadn’t intended to drive but cut the evening short following an argument with her partner. She kept stopping her car to allow her partner to get out.
She held no previous convictions and was ‘shamed’ to have lost her good character, the bench was told.
Magistrates banned her from driving for 14 months.
They also ordered Hunter to pay £160 fine, £85 court costs and £15 victim surcharge.
