AN elderly man who wandered off in his pyjamas sparked a major alert in Huddersfield.

Police officers searched woods and fields around Bradley and were joined by the West Yorkshire Police helicopter.

They are looking for 84-year-old Bernard Hallas who was last seen at 11.15pm on Tuesday night in Huddersfield town centre.

Mr Hallas, of Stutley Grove, Bradley, was seen on a bus from Bradley into Huddersfield at 8.20pm on Tuesday.

The bus went into the town centre where Mr Hallas then caught another bus to Marsden. At the end of its route, at around 10.15pm, the bus went back into Huddersfield with Mr Hallas still onboard.

Mr Hallas was last seen at 11:15pm when concerned staff at Huddersfield Bus Station asked him if he was OK.

Mr Hallas suffers several medical conditions and has no medication with him.

He is a white man, around 5’5” tall, clean shaven, frail and with wispy grey hair.

He was wearing blue check pyjamas, a brown sheepskin coat, a brown hat and black shoes.
