The body of a man has been found in an outbuilding in Golcar hours after he was reported missing.
The 55-year-old was discovered dead at a property in Glastonbury Drive on Friday evening.
Police yesterday said that the man, from Huddersfield, had been reported to them as missing earlier that day.
His death is not believed to be suspicious and police enquiries are continuing.
Residents expressed their shock after police cars descended on the street following the grim discovery at around 7.40pm.
One witnessed the drama of around eight police cars, a scientific support van and ambulance arriving.
Another said that she had heard that a body had been taken from a shed belonging to one of the properties.
A police spokesman said: “Enquiries are continuing today after the body of a man reported as missing was found in an outbuilding in Huddersfield yesterday.
“Kirklees Police searching for a 55-year-old Huddersfield man reported missing yesterday located the body of a male, believed to be the missing person, in an outbuilding on Glastonbury Drive yesterday evening.
“A post mortem will be conducted to determine a cause of death but at this stage there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.”
