A HUDDERSFIELD man has created a DVD to show off his pride and joy - a model of the Brockholes railway station of old.

Paul Gregory, 44, of Oakes, has entitled the DVD Brockholes - A Model Of A Railway.

It briefly tells of how railways grew in Huddersfield, particularly the Penistone Line, which passes through Brockholes. Mr Gregory - who is married to Julie and has a daughter Carrie - then explains the history of Brockholes station.

To illustrate the facts, he has used a model he built of Brockholes station as it would have looked in 1954.

Mr Gregory built the model 10 years ago and since then it has been shown at 25 exhibitions around the UK and has won ``best in show" at 12 of these.

In the DVD, Mr Gregory explains how he created the model.

He said: "It has had many favourable comments, especially from those who know the area.

"I have been asked so many questions over the years that I decided to try and tell the story with this DVD.

"Filming was something I had never done before. But I enjoyed it."

The model was the first - and only - one Mr Gregory has built.

He says he does not have a passion for trains.

Instead, it was his love of local history which led him to create the model and his film. Mr Gregory, a financial adviser, said: "I tried to create a painting in 3D of my home town.

"I'm not interested in railways so much as the history of the town.

"I turned to modelling because I enjoy building things.

"I've got an A-level in physics and technical drawing qualifications, which I don't get to use in my job."

The DVD and a video version of the film are available from Mr Gregory at a price of £13.95, plus £1 postage and packaging.

Cheques should be payable to Brockholes Productions and sent to Paul Gregory, 10 Cornfield Avenue, Oakes, Huddersfield HD3 4FY.
