HUDDERSFIELD Railway Modellers were today gearing up for the their annual exhibition.

The event takes place at Holmfirth Civic Hall today and tomorrow.

There will be 13 model rail layouts in different sizes from different periods including a new digitally-controlled layout.

For the children there will also be the popular Thomas the Tank Engine train track and locomotive building demonstrations.

There will be a variety of trade stands where visitors can buy kit for their model railways and seek advice.

A tombola will be held and refreshments on sale, with proceeds from the event going to the nominated charity, Martin House children’s hospice.

Each year the event attracts hundreds of visitors and modellers from all over the district.

Club spokesman Graham Harpham said: “We have one of the biggest exhibitions in the area and attracted around 400 people over the two days last year.

“It’s popular because there’s lots of activities for the whole family to come and enjoy.”

The exhibition will be open from 10am to 5pm both days, with a free bus service operating from Huddersfield station.

Admission costs £4 for adults and £3 for children and concessions.
