HUDDERSFIELD Railway Modellers are to host their fourth annual open weekend in Milnsbridge this weekend.

The two-day event will take place at the group’s clubrooms at Stonefield Mills on Tanyard Road.

The club’s previous three open weekends attracted more than 300 visitors each and members are hoping this year’s open weekend will be extra special: it coincides with the club’s 40th anniversary.

Club members will be operating exhibition-standard model railways layouts from 2mm finescale ‘N’ gauge to 16mm live steam layouts.

Club chairman Rodger Schofield said: “Membership has reached the 50 mark with a great blend of novice and experienced modellers. We take great pride and pleasure in being able to show local people what we have achieved.

“Unlike an exhibition, the relaxed atmosphere of the clubrooms means members will have time to answer questions. It all adds up to the best free railways show in town.”

The clubrooms will be open from 11am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday and entry is free.
