A FUNDRAISING pantomime sold out before opening its three-night run – and a breast cancer charity is set to benefit.

Moldgreen Conservative Club started putting on its own pantomimes after a burglary at the club in 2004 meant there was no money to take children to the theatre to see a professional one.

Members have done one every year since and donated the proceeds to charity.

This year’s show was called Once Upon A Time.

It combined different parts of a variety of pantomime stories.

There were three performances, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Director Debbie Lynch said: “We sold out all 600 tickets beforehand and it should raise about £500.”

The money will go to a breast cancer charity in honour of Linda Downes, who paints the scenery for the club pantomimes and who has just been given the all-clear from cancer.
