A MOLDGREEN man is pitting himself against the elements in the gruelling Lyke Wake Walk.
Former school teacher Ray Davies is part of a team raising money for research into heart disease and hopes friends and colleagues who have known him over the years can contact to give his fundraising a boost.
In the past he has completed the Three Peaks challenge of England’s highest points, but knows his team’s newest target is a step up.
The 42-mile walk will take them from Ravenscar on the East Coast of the North York Moors, West to Osmortherly – but all in a 24 hour time limit.
He said: “We’re starting at 2am and there are 50 of us – I know it’s the hardest thing I’ll have ever done.
“I’ve been training and I do have some trepidation, I’ve been careful though and I’ve booked some time off work either side to make sure I can recover!”
The father-of-three set off this morning.
