FIRE investigators are trying to find out what started a huge blaze in a Meltham mill.

Firefighters spent almost three hours fighting the blaze at the derelict Brook Dyeing Mill in Holmfirth Road.

The fire started in a brick built shed next to the main building around 11.30pm.

Crews from Meltham, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Holmfirth, Huddersfield and the aerial appliance from Huddersfield attended the blaze and used four large jets to deal with the blaze.

The building was badly damaged although crews manged to prevent it spreading to the main part of the building.

The cause is being investigated.

* Two large shipping containers were badly damaged by fire in Brighouse.

Crews from Cleckheaton and Elland dealt with the blaze which started in one container at Atlas mill in the town centre and spread to another.

Crews were called to the scene shortly before midnight on Sunday.

The fire had started in a container storing eletrical goods and spread to another containing rags and clothing.
