A GRANDMOTHER was robbed of her purse as she was wheeling her grand-daughter’s pushchair.

The 61-year-old was with her one-year-old grandchild on Close Hill Lane when the incident happened at 9.30am on Friday (March 6).

A man walked past her, then turned around and pushed her on the right shoulder, making he stumble.

He then reached into the mesh pocket under the pushchair and took her purse.

He ran off towards Berry Brow.

He is described as African-Caribbean, aged 18 to 24, of medium build and 5ft 10ins tall. He had very short, black hair and wore a khaki knee-length coat.

Sgt Jim Carter, of Huddersfield police, said: "It is of concern that he’s picked on this lady who was with a child. We would ask anyone with information to contact us on 01484 436575 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
