PART of the M62 was shut today after a crash.
Police and fire crews were called to the eastbound lanes shortly after 11.30am when a lorry and a car collided.
It is thought the car driver was trapped in his vehicle and a rescue effort was launched.
Police closed the motorway between Ainley Top and Clifton to let rescuers work at the scene.
The motorway has now just one lane closed but traffic flow is not expected to get back to normal until at least mid-afternoon according to the Highways Agency.
