CLIENTS of a Huddersfield financial adviser have been told they are in line for compensation if they have lost money.

Up to £48,000 can be claimed from an industry watchdog.

The move comes after David Anthony Wood, trading as David Anthony Wood Life and Pensions on St John's Road at Birkby, was declared in default.

Loretta Minghella, chief executive of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, said: "Our role is to help consumers who have nowhere else to turn.

"It is important that consumers know we exist and that we may be able to help if they believe they have lost money."

Declaring a firm in default is the final part of a process in which the scheme finds that a regulated firm cannot pay claims.

Thirty-three investment firms in England and Wales have been included in the latest list.

Customers who believe they may have a claim should phone the scheme on 020 7892 7300.
