PUPILS coughed up their coppers to raise cash for a Huddersfield hospice.

Children in Year 2 at Rawthorpe Infants and Year 3 at the junior school collected pennies to lay on the school field in a bid to raise money for Kirkwood Hospice.

About 60 youngsters from each section of the schools took part.

The task was aimed at building bridges between the two schools.

The coppers were stuck on to ribbon to make the task easier.

Both schools collected the same amount.

More than £170 was raised for the hospice.
