PRIME Minister Tony Blair could be toppled from his Commons seat - by the Honley-based deputy leader of the Monster Raving Loony Party.

Boney Maroney - real name Melodie Staniforth - has confirmed she would stand against him in Sedgefield at the next election.

And it's a challenge she is relishing after polling an impressive 561 votes against Tory leader William Hague at the last General Election in 2001.

Boney said: "All I did then was sit in coffee shops all day, drinking coffee and shouting `Vote for me' occasionally.

"It would be nice if I could do that again, although I do have a few more things in the pipeline this time."

She will fight the contest in her trademark outfit of top hat and suit adorned with full-length yellow skeleton.

Party policies are being kept under wraps until a new `manic-festo' is issued next year - but heated loo seats for the elderly is expected to be one demand.

Boney will be accompanied in Co Durham by The Flying Pasty who is the party's Minister for Accordions and All Things Squeezy.

Boney stood for Colne Valley in the 1992 and 1997 General Elections.

She said: "Taking on Tony Blair is something I have to do."

"I really had to go for it."

Mr Blair had a majority of 17,713 .
