MOOR End Academy has received a prestigious award for talented students.

The Crosland Moor school has gained the National Association for Able Children in Education (NACE) Challenge award for able, gifted and talented pupils.

It is given for work by governors and teachers for challenging all pupils, including those of high ability, to achieve their best.

It is only the second in the country to be given the award under the new framework.

It focuses on pupil progress, with particular regard to less advantaged but more able learners.

Moor End is the only school in Kirklees to gain the award.

NACE is a leading national educational charity set up 28 years ago.
