On Tuesday we want to make an almighty racket across social media — and you can help.

We're planning a Thunderclap — a mass message spread through social media — to mark the start of the public consultation that will determine Huddersfield A&E's future.

Huddersfield and Calderdale NHS bosses have announced that a public consultation on the Right Care Right Time Right Place plan will begin on March 15.

To make sure everyone takes part and makes their voices heard, we're planning a day of action on the first day of the consultation.

As well as our Save Huddersfield A&E Battle Bus hitting the road , we're sending out a Thunderclap — and more than 400 of you have signed up to lend a hand so far.

At the time of writing, we had 416 supporters — 83 per cent of our initial target of 500 people. But we want to topple our target!

The campaign was trending worldwide on the Thunderclap website yesterday (Thursday), and we want to make it even bigger — and get #handsoffHRI trending!

To do that, we need as many Twitter and Facebook users as possible to sign up before 12.30pm on Tuesday — when our message will be sent.

The consultation on the proposal, which could close Huddersfield’s A&E and transfer emergency care services to Halifax, will run until June 21.

Greater Huddersfield and Calderdale CCGs (clinical commissioning groups), the local NHS organisation behind the plan, say they will decide whether to approve the proposal in October, at the earliest.

In the meantime, a series of information sessions and public meetings will take place at which people can find out more about the proposed changes, ask questions and give their views.
