PEOPLE from Huddersfield will receive a welcome in the hillsides at a seminar to promote access for all to the moors.

A Moors For All seminar will be held in Hathersage, Derbyshire, this month and community groups are asked to offer their experiences.

The free, day-long event on January 28 is aimed at conquering barriers to enjoyment of the Peak District moors, particularly for disabled people who encounter physical obstacles or ethnic and urban groups who may feel inhibited by the unknown.

The day will also feature speakers from the Disabled Ramblers and Black Environment Network. There will also be a workshop event.

Moor care ranger Daniel Boys said: "We are looking at four elements - social, cultural, psychological and physical - which can stop people getting on to the moors.

"The obvious one is the physical problem. But some people feel intimidated by the moors, so we could look at rangers going out with them.

"Others have no history of the moors, so we want to help them understand what they are all about."
