HUDDERSFIELD Parish Church’s restoration fund has been given a double boost.

The church has been given further grants of £40,000 from the National Churches Trust and £7,500 from the Garfield Weston Foundation in the wake of a huge grant of £155,000 from English Heritage.

All will go towards the restoration of the Victorian building.

Now the Vicar, the churchwardens and Parochial Church Council are looking ahead towards a great deal of hard work to raise money to match fund the grant.

Vicar of Huddersfield Canon Simon Moor said: “Accepting the help from English Heritage committed us to raising the best part of £60,000 from other grant-making bodies and good honest fundraising.

“But the notification of not one but two further offers of help is astonishing.”

The congregation has still to raise around £10,000 to pay for the latest phase of the restoration.
