A SECOND healthy eating milk bar has opened at a Kirklees school - and more could follow.

The White Stuff opened at St John Fisher High School in Dewsbury as a result of popular demand by students - mainly boys!

The bar will sell ice-cold milk, milkshakes and sandwiches made out of a range of breads including baguettes, bagels, wraps, focaccia and hoagies.

There will also be salads and fresh fruit.

The kitchen's head, Mrs Annette Dunford, said questionnaires were handed out every 12 months asking pupils what they wanted.

"This is quite a sporty school and children are quite keen on healthy food, particularly the boys," she added.

It is hoped the stylish black and white bar will encourage students to swap sugary, fizzy drinks for milk.

"I expect it to be very popular; children have been asking when it will open for a while," said Mrs Dunford.

Mrs Kath Simpson, area catering manager for Kirklees Council, said: "We hope to have more of these milk bars at other high schools, where head teachers want them and the schools have space for them."

Kirklees's first milk bar - also called The White Stuff - opened at Shelley High School last October.
