A DEWSBURY teenager arrested under anti-terror laws is still being questioned by police.

The 16-year-old from Savile Town was arrested last Wednesday, the day after the arrest of a 21-year-old Bradford man at Manchester Airport.

The Bradford man was stopped on his return from Canada where police have arrested 17 men and youths on suspicion of planning an "al Qaida-inspired" plot.

Police have also raided and begun searching another house, in Greenwood Street, Savile Town, Dewsbury - believed to be linked to the arrest of the 16-year-old.

A taxi driver who lives on the street said: "I woke up at about 4am and first noticed the police van outside.

"I could hear talking and wondered what it was."

Under the Terrorism Act police can detain suspects for 14 days, though they have to return to court on a regular basis to apply to a judge to continue the detention.

* Two brothers held as terror suspects for more than a week following a controversial raid by armed police break silence today about their ordeal.

Mohammed Abdul Kahar, 23, who was shot during the dawn operation, and 20-year-old Abul Koyair will hold a press conference near the scene of the raid in Forest Gate, east London.

Their testimonies could pile more pressure on Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair, who has faced fresh calls to resign since the brothers were released without charge on Friday.

Yesterday senior figures, including the Prime Minister and London Mayor Ken Livingstone, gave Sir Ian - also under pressure over the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes - their personal backing.
