MORE families in West Yorkshire will be able to benefit from grants to keep their homes warm this winter.

The news follows a change to Warm Front grant eligibility from October 15.

Until then, households with a household income of less than £14,200 and receiving Working Tax Credit (with a disability element), and/or Child Tax Credit, are eligible for Warm Front grants.

But from October 15 the income threshold is being raised to £14,600.

Warm Front grants provide a package of additional heating improvements and insulation measures tailored to meet individual needs, including loft and cavity wall insulation and draught proofing.

In some cases, full central heating could be installed.

Terry Booth, from Powergen Warm Front in West Yorkshire, said: "We're pleased that we're going to be able to help more families in West Yorkshire keep warm this winter.

"We would urge anyone who thinks they may now be eligible to give us a call."
