This is the scene up this morning up on the A640 at Buckstones.

The winds, which are believed to have reached in excess of 80mph last night, still are whipping over the exposed moorland.

Lorries were on the road last night before a number toppled over.

The council, on the advice of West Yorkshire Police, closed the road as the winds created more and more havoc.

This morning, the road remains closed as operations continue to rescue the stricken vehicles
