A WOMAN says she will go to court after landing a parking fine in Huddersfield when she was eight months' pregnant.

Lynsey Vickers, 28, of Burnley, was 37 minutes over time when she returned to the Queensgate multi-storey car park.

She was paying for a second ticket at the machine to cover the over-stay when an attendant put a £30 ticket on her Land Rover.

"I expected to be back in time. I was nearly eight months' pregnant and really big. It took me longer than I anticipated," said Mrs Vickers.

She has been battling Kirklees Council since getting the ticket in January, when she was a teacher training student at Huddersfield University.

Her son, Archie, is now four-and-a-half months old and she is teaching in Burnley.

A court summons for non-payment of the fine was issued last month and Mrs Vickers intends to plead not guilty at Huddersfield Magistrates' Court.

A council spokeswoman said: "We don't comment on individual cases. This is now a legal matter."
