A MOTHER of two from Brighouse has scooped a belated birthday present of more than £100,000 - playing bingo!

And the 40-year-old plans to share the money three ways with her mother and sister, with whom she was playing bingo at the Mecca club in St Thomas Road, Huddersfield.

"The first thing we are all going to do is go to Euro Disney together with our families." said the lucky winner, who has asked not to be named.

"We all live very near to each other and are very close."

It was last Friday evening, April 21, that she won the National Bingo Game prize of £100,000 and the club prize of £238. She completed a full house in 40 numbers, the lowest call in 500 clubs playing nationwide.

"Earlier on in the evening, a man two tables from us won £900 and I thought, how lucky is he? £300 each would just do us nicely. Little did we know what was to come!

"When they announced we had won the National Game, the atmosphere and spirit in the club was just great. Lots of people were congratulating us and were genuinely happy for us.

"And then on the very next game, I won a line and got another £50. And the last number I crossed off was 74, the same as for the National."

The woman joined the Mecca Club in 1985 and plays there `about once every couple of months.' Her previous biggest win was £600 five years ago, with which she bought a new dining-room table and chairs.

"There are lots of things I want in the house and jobs that need doing, so some of the money will be spent on that."

The winner works part-time as a personal banking manager, and she and her husband have two sons aged eight and four.

"I phoned him from the club to break the news, and he had put champagne in the fridge for when we got home," she said. "We also celebrated with a Chinese takeaway. I have never had the two together before!"

Her mother and father are both retired and her 37-year-old sister is married with three sons aged 13, 12 and eight.
