STAFF at Mount Pleasant Junior and Infant School, Lockwood, have donated about 75 chairs to a school in Pakistan.
Teaching assistant Naheela Kausar’s father, Mahmood Hussain, recently returned from a trip to Kashmir.
On his visit, he discovered a school where children were working and learning on the floor.
In a bid to help them, he approached Naheela about receiving help from Mount Pleasant.
Heateacher Dr Mujahid Ali was willing to assist and with a revamp in the classrooms due, the pair organised to have all the chairs shipped over.
Dr Ali said: “We wanted to help the school.
“Approximately 95% of our pupils are Pakistani and we felt it was important to encourage links.
“We are supporting other communities locally and nationally and we feel it is important for the children.”
