MEASURES to tackle speeding cars in Flockton are to be introduced by Kirklees Council.

A petition was sent to the council expressing concerns about traffic through the village.

A spokesman for Kirklees Council said they received the petition on November 8 and would consider it through the council's Cabinet Committee process.

"We will assess the key elements and concerns raised and put forward a report in the first quarter of 2006.

"Any recommended course of action or further investigations could then be undertaken, subject to resource and priority.

"Works are proposed in early 2006 to modify the western priority `give way' feature.

"This will rebuild a wall, resurface a section of carriageway, introduce measures to reduce approach speeds, improve driver awareness and ensure correct traffic alignment."
