RECEPTIONISTS working in Yorkshire's tourism industry are being offered free language training - to help them provide a warmer welcome to overseas visitors.
One-day workshops in French, German, Italian and Spanish are being held on September 26 to coincide with the European Day of Languages.
They include a workshop at the Aspley premises of the Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce. Others will be held in Leeds, Sheffield, Hull, York and Scarborough.
Funding has been provided by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward.
Sir Graham Hall, chairman of Yorkshire Forward, said: "We need to attract more visitors from overseas to the region and have to make sure we can offer them a high quality experience that exceeds their expectations.
"Communicating in the visitor's language adds that extra touch of customer care."
