YORKSHIRE Water has announced plans to end the traffic chaos caused by wagons visiting its site at Earlsheaton, Dewsbury.

It follows meetings and months of lobbying by Dewsbury MP Shahid Malik, who promised people living nearby that he would find a solution to their 'traffic nightmare' last summer.

The plans will see the creation of a new access route to the Mitchell Laithes site, which is likely to involve building a bridge over the River Calder.

The company hopes work could begin in spring, 2010, subject to planning approval and securing the land needed, and be completed in 2011.
