A SCHEME encouraging the elderly to be more active is looking for volunteers.
Moving More Often helps older people – especially those who are frail – improve their quality of life and well-being and encourages them to remain independent for longer.
The Kirklees Council-run scheme now needs volunteers to help spread its message.
It wants those working voluntarily or professionally with older people to train so they can provide activities that are safe, effective and fun.
Training courses are set to take place in the new year in Batley and Huddersfield.
They are free to those committed to delivering regular opportunities for physical activities to older people in Kirklees.
The first day is compulsory, then participants can choose which of the other sessions they want to attend.
The Huddersfield course will run on Wednesdays from January 6 to 27 at the Galpharm Stadium.
The Batley course is being held at the Salvation Army, Bradford Road, during February.
More courses will run throughout the year.
