MP Simon Reevell has tabled a Commons motion on wind turbines.

The Dewsbury MP spoke in Parliament yesterday as his constituents campaigned against an application for two wind turbines in Grange Moor.

The MP tabled a Commons motion calling on the Government to introduce a minimum separation distance between large wind turbines and occupied dwellings.

Bob Neil MP, the Minister for Planning in the Department for Communities and Local Government, responded saying that “current planning policy does not include an exclusion zone between wind turbines and housing. Rather, each wind turbine proposal is assessed on a case by case basis according to its impacts.”

But Mr Reevell called for a law to be introduced as soon as possible, saying it would allow for wind turbines to be built in sensible locations away from major residential areas such as Grange Moor and Birdsedge.
