HUNDREDS of bike- mad enthusiasts descended on Grange Moor for motorcycle scrambling - and what a muddy do it was!

Round one of the annual Motocross Twin-Shock Championship took place - and conditions certainly favoured the brave.

Competitors struggled in the mud on land off Denby Lane.

Many of the bikes and riders were unrecognisable by the time the races ended.

But the crowds could not get enough of the action and cheered their heroes all the way.

But it was not just the riders who got caked in mud.

A field being used as a car park for spectators soon became a swamp and scores of cars were left stranded in the mud.

Local farmers were forced to help by pulling cars from the mud with their tractors to get them moving again.
