A mum and son were threatened with an electric stun gun and subjected to a terrifying daylight attack in their Kirklees home.

The attack happened in Conway Crescent on Sunday afternoon when two men entered the house through a the side door, then threatened the victims with the electric weapon and demanded money and gold.

But the son, 27, tried to fight them off when his mother was punched in the face. He was hit in the face with the gun which split part of his nostril. The suspects then hit him with a glass vase before he managed to chase them out of the house.

Det Con Andy Clayton from Huddersfield CID said: “We are very keen to trace these men because of the level of violence used and the use of a taser.

“We believe it was a targeted attack and do not think there is any danger to the wider community. Nothing was stolen from the house.

“We are currently investigating the circumstances leading up to this unusual, and thankfully rare, type of attack.”

The suspects have both been described as white, between 30 and 35 years old and spoke with Irish accents. One was of average build, clean shaven with a square face. The other was of slim build, with short light brown hair. He was also clean shaven and was wearing a beige hooded jacket.

Police believe the thugs were driving a silver ‘06 reg Ford Mondeo car following the incident on Conway Crescent in Batley Carr which happened at around 3.30pm.

Det Clayton added:“I want any witnesses who may have seen these men, or this car, in the vicinity of Conway Crescent in Batley Carr around this time to contact me on 101 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
