A mum has urged parents to be on their guard after her teenage daughter and her boyfriend were repeatedly followed by a car in Mirfield.

She said the incident happened close to Battyeford playing fields, off Huddersfield Road.

The woman’s 16-year-old daughter was walking the dog with her boyfriend when a silver coloured Audi estate, with three men inside, began following them.

The car first slowed down as it went by the couple, with the three men all staring at them.

“They thought the car was acting strange but they continued to walk around the field,” said the woman.

“When they came off they walked up Coppin Hall and the same car came, and was creeping along again.

“They walked up Stocksbank Road and near the bottom of Kitson Hill there was a man.

“They crossed the road and he followed, so they crossed again and he followed.

Battyeford Sports fields.

“The man started calling to them ‘hey, hey.’”

She said her daughter and her boyfriend were beginning to get very scared, and the man then motioned to them and asked in a foreign accent if they had a light.

“They carried on walking away from him, the Audi was coming up the road and it stopped to pick up the man.”

The incident happened between 9pm and 9.30pm on Sunday.

She said they have reported the incident to police.

“Please tell your children to be cautious. My daughter was and still is really upset and scared by this.”

Other people have also claimed to have seen a similar car cruising the area. Police have been informed.
