MUMFORD and Sons are set to entertain thousands at Greenhead Park.

But ahead of their Gentlemen of the Road Stopover in June, the band stopped by yesterday to experience the town for the first time.

Having explored the Byram Arcade, Greenhead Park and the Lawrence Batley Theatre, the group described the town as "unique and exciting".

Although they were sporting Huddersfield Giants shirts, Marcus Mumford, Ted Dwane, Ben Lovett and Winston Marshall all wished Huddersfield Town good luck in their upcoming play-off final against Sheffield United at Wembley.

The band, who are set to perform at the event alongside Michael Kiwanuka, Willy Mason and Slow Club, will not be the final act on stage.

Although they couldn't confirm who would be headlining, they praised all the other acts as "great performers and friends."

The all-day festival will be on June 2 and tickets are still available. For more information visit  http://www.gentlemenoftheroad.com/huddersfield
