A 39-YEAR-OLD man accused of murdering a teenager has appeared in court.

Christopher Hill made a brief appearance before Dewsbury magistrates yesterday morning.

Hill, 39, of Lepton, is charged with murdering 18-year-old Robert Broadbent, of Lepton, between October 5 and October 7.

Mr Broadbent’s body was discovered in a corner of the Fitness First car park, Lockwood Park, on Sunday. He had been stabbed.

Dishevelled and wearing a green sweater, Hill spoke only to confirm his name, address and date of birth.

He was remanded to appear before Bradford Crown Court via video link on October 18.

Meanwhile police investigations into the case are continuing.

Yesterday detectives appealed for an anonymous caller to get in touch with them.

The caller had telephoned police about bloodstained clothing that had been seen. Police believe the clothing may have been discarded between Lockwood Park and School Lane, Paddock.

Mr Broadbent lived in Lepton with his mother Joanne, stepfather Dean Hanlon and his younger brother and sister.

Many tributes to him have been posted on the Gone Too Soon website.
