A NIGHTCLUB at the centre of a notorious murder has been virtually destroyed by fire.
Arsonists are thought to have broken into Sheridan's Bar at Calder Wharf Mills, off Huddersfield Road in Ravensthorpe, early today and started several fires inside.
Firefighters got there about 1.50am and 25 of them battled for an hour to bring the blaze under control.
The fire had already caused massive smoke damage inside.
At the height of the drama fire crews had to protect nearby industrial units, including a woodyard.
Leeds man Michael Hanley, 23, was shot dead outside the club after an argument inside early on December 27, 2005.
His killer, Shane Thomas, 24, of Long- royd Bridge, was jailed for at least 25 years last month.
Darren Foley, 19, of Dalton, had admitted murder and was jailed for at least 18 years.
