West Yorkshire Police have launched a murder enquiry after a man's body was found at a house in Brighouse.

Officers were called to the address in Whinney Hill Park yesterday afternoon (Thurs) to find the 28-year-old man dead.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains in custody being questioned by police. Officers are also appealing to any members of the public who may have information that can help them in their investigation to come forward.

Murder update:

The operators of the organisation which operates housing on the Whinney Hill estate has spoken about the death of 29-year-old Carl Wood.

Amanda Garrard, Director of Neighbourhoods at Together Housing, said: “Together Housing understand that a police investigation is taking place at one of our properties in Brighouse, following a fatality.

“In tragic cases like these, our thoughts are always with the family and friends of the deceased, however we are not able to comment further at this stage as the police investigation is ongoing.”

A man whose death has sparked a murder investigation has been named locally as Carl Wood.

Detectives launched a major probe following the discovery of the 29-year-old’s body early yesterday afternoon at a flat in Whinney Hill Park, Brighouse.

They were called there just after 2pm yesterday before finding the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a body at a property in Brighouse.

Police were called at 14:04 yesterday and attended a house on Whinney Hill Park in Brighouse and found a body of a man.

The 28-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody at this time.

Enquiries are ongoing.
