THREE men found guilty of murdering a former Huddersfield man were appealing against their life convictions today.

Father-of-two Kevin Jackson, 31, was stabbed in the head with a screwdriver as he interrupted an attempt to steal a car.

Bradfor trio Rashad Zaman, 23, Rangzaib Akhtar, 22, and Raees Khan, 22, were convicted by a jury at Leeds Crown Court in December 2002 of his murder.

The victim formerly lived in Shepley and was a maintenance worker at Syngenta in Huddersfield.

He died on New Year's Day, two days after he disturbed the three men attempting to steal a Toyota RAV 4 vehicle from outside his home in the Copley area of Halifax on December 30, 2001.

Today they were challenging their convictions at at the Court of Appeal in London.
