COLNE Valley Museum’s volunteers are a step closer to realising their expansion dream.

They have worked long and hard to raise money to buy a fourth cottage.

The volunteers want to buy the end cottage of the row and complete the buildings which house the Golcar museum’s many artefacts.

After a successful meeting with Kirklees Council’s Colne Valley Area Committee museum treasurer John Daker is calling for a final push.

He said: “Nearly £40,000 has been pledged towards this project by museum members and supporters, local businesses and people of the Colne Valley, which is an amazing amount.’’

He added: “We are now contacting our supporters to send in the promised money as soon as possible, so we can complete the next step towards purchasing the end cottage and shop.”

The cottage would give the museum much-needed space to expand its exhibitions.

The museum, run by volunteers, has received £60,000 from Kirklees towards the Realising the Dream project.

They are now calling for supporters to dig deep and honour their pledges.

Donations should be made to the Colne Valley Museum, Cliffe Ash, Golcar, Huddersfield HD7 4PY.
