YOUNG musicians from this area have been visiting Germany.
Twenty-seven young people (pictured) made the trip over the half-term break.
The Shelley Music Centre students visited the town of Kreis Unna, which is twinned with Kirklees.
The musicians, aged from 11 to 18, performed in front of local dignitaries. They also gave a concert for 150 schoolchildren.
There was a sightseeing trip to nearby Dortmund and activities with host families included ice-skating and bowling.
Student Rose Crosland said: “It was really good. I liked having time with my German host family and getting to know them better.”
The music centre has had cultural links with the Bachkreis Bergkamen Orchestra for 10 years. (S)
