A MUSICIAN is holding a memorial concert for her friend who died of a brain tumour.

Amy Atkinson will pay tribute to Chris Gibson who had two brain tumours – one aggressive – and who died, aged 29, last March.

Amy, 20, of Savile Park, Halifax, knew Chris through their shared love of music and often met up with him and fellow musician Roger Davies in Huddersfield.

This is why they have decided to hold the memorial concert and will raise money for Andrea’s Gift – a brain tumour research and support charity.

Amy said: “He was just the most amazing guy.

“Me, Chris and Roger all knew each other through the music scene in Huddersfield and it seemed fitting to come back to play Chris’s memorial concert in Huddersfield too.”

Chris was a talented clarinet player and lived in Oxenhope, near Keighley.

Amy is a singer and plays the fiddle in her own band – Amy Atkinson and Midnight Special – while Brighouse folk singer Roger Davies will also play.

Andrea’s Gift is a Yorkshire-based charity whose aim is to raise funds to develop long-term research projects into brain tumours and provide a level of support for patients and carers.

The concert will take place at Birdsedge Village Hall on Saturday May 2.

Lord Mayor of Leeds Clr Frank Robinson has been invited to the concert. Andrea’s Gift is his chosen charity.

Tickets cost £6 and are available by calling organisers on 01422 350 980.
