A MAN found critically injured on a Huddersfield street has died in hospital.

Roy Hepworth, 67, was found near his home on Glenfield Avenue in Deighton with severe facial injuries at 11pm on Friday, October 8.

He had just left The Wise Owl Inn on nearby Leeds Road after taking part in a karaoke session.

Police have made several pleas for witnesses who saw him walking home that night to come forward.

They are still investigating how he suffered his injuries. A post-mortem examination was being carried out this afternoon to establish a cause of death.

Mr Hepworth, a retired maintenance man, was married with two daughters.

He died at the Huddersfield Royal Infirmary on Sunday afternoon.

The landlord at The Wise Owl, David Jones, said: "Roy was very well-known in the Deighton area and was a nice chap.

"He'd been in and had a sing on the night he was found.

"He really liked the slow ballads."

Police are still appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
