A MAN’S body was dumped on a quiet Huddersfield street under cover of darkness, police have revealed.

As reported yesterday, an inquiry was launched after the dead man was found on Lynton Avenue in Springwood on Sunday morning.

A resident of the street called police at about 7.45am after seeing the body opposite his home.

West Yorkshire Police have now named the man as 21-year-old Tuan Anh Nguyen, from Vietnam.

They have also revealed he is believed to have died somewhere else before being transported to Lynton Avenue and dumped next to wheelie bins on the roadside.

A spokesman said: “Detectives investigating the case believe the man had died in a different location and had been moved and left on Lynton Avenue overnight between Saturday and Sunday.”

Little is known about Mr Nguyen and mystery still surrounds the circumstances of his death.

He is thought to have come to the UK in 2009.

He was known to police, although those involved in the inquiry have declined to say why.

A post mortem was carried out on Sunday but police said the cause of his death was “yet to be ascertained” and enquiries were ongoing.

Huddersfield Coroner’s Office said further investigations needed to be carried out before details about the death could be confirmed.

The Examiner understands it is not being treated as suspicious.

Officers closed off Lynton Avenue on Sunday and a forensic tent was erected while a search for evidence was carried out.

Residents of the normally peaceful street were baffled by the incident.

One said: “My son had a phone call from one of his friends on Sunday morning saying our road was closed off and I said, ‘No it isn’t.’

“Then I looked outside and there were all these police.

“It’s very sad.”

Police have issued a picture of the dead man, but said he had lost a significant amount of weight and his hair had grown much longer since the photograph was taken.

They have appealed for anyone with information about Mr Nguyen to contact them.
